Description

32mo (138mm x 105mm) 85pp. Hardcover in blue-grey paper boards with green titles on spine as well with an inlaid hexagonal Potter illustration adhered to the front board and there is onlysuperficial bumping with a minute tear to the top of the spine, in good condition, protected in clear archival covering, text is in very good condition with only minor hinge cracking between pges 54-55 and all 23 illustrations present and are all devoid of prior owner markings with a small pen gift inscription on the half-title page. This impression only has a copyright date of 1910 but with no date on the title page it must be a fourth printing or later and it was dedicated to Nellie [a young relative of the Warne’s to whom she gave the first manuscript as a small leather note book] (a second manuscript in an exercise book is usually displayed at Hilltop farm for visitors) and the family always referred to the first one as “Nellie’s Little Book”. Overall this is a very good impression of a very early printing.. The endpapers are excellent and appropriate for a printing after 1908 of course.
