Description

8vo, XI, 175pp. Soft cover with dark blue d/w, adorned by author’s photograph and title protected by clear archival covering, text in excellent condition with a neat prior owner’s name on ffep. Edited by Debra Adelaide, this is the detailed account of the life of the author of “Come In Spinner” as a teacher working in multiple postings throughout NSW. It is a narrative wonderfully rich in detail written as an interesting and readable story about this at times controversial teacher. Published ten years after her death in 1981 with the assistance of the Morris West Trust Fund, the original manuscript was actually purchased in 1976 and Cusack’s account opens a window onto a vanished era and in doing so presents in microcosm a social history of the middle years of twentieth-century Australia.
