Royal 8vo. III, 1022pp. Hardcover fine binding in dark brown genuine top-grain cowhide leather in pristine condition (by Tapley-Rutter Company , Bookbinders in USA). All edges are gilt and both boards and spine are brass-die stamped in 22-carat gold . Superb green marbled endpapers on stiff board are a further highlight being a specially commissioned original design of Richard J Wolfe. The cover stampings and design of this edition are by Daniel B Bianchi and Selma Ordewer. The archival paper has been made for this edition by the Warren Paper Company in the USA The five-banded ribbed spine is in perfect condition with no cracking or hinging present despite the large text block. Apparently the endpapers are of moire fabric and Smyth sewing and concealed muslin joints are utilised for a longer life together with the dark-brown silk page marker being in pristine condition. text is likewise in as new condition with no prior owner markings at all and no flecking or foxing either, clearly rarely opened. This special edition, private printing is a stunning example of the master bookbinders’ art, being a beautiful rendition of an old and very important still relevant legal tome. Surely a superb gift or addition to any legal library.
