Description

8vo, XXX, 556pp. Black cloth hardcover with gilt title on a firm tight spine in very good condition with only minor bruising on corners and a lightly soiled upper and fore-edge and a bright pink laminated non price-clipped d/w with photos on front and rear of Clementine and with her husband in good condition with a little chipping and fading of top edge and spine now protected by clear archival covering, internally is very lightly foxed throughout though is still clean and b/w photos remain in excellent order and the book is devoid of evidence of prior ownership though it is clearly and neatly signed by the author on the ffep. So the book is in at least very good or better condition overall. Clementine agreed that the book was to be written by her and Winston’s daughter providing it was published after her death in 1977. The life of this wonderful woman was a major triumph as was her husband’s of course and is mirrored by the life of Lady Soames and her charitable and government work. No study of Churchill’s life is complete without this personal record of his steadfast wife, beautifully signed by his famous daughter.
