8vo, III, 319pp. Hardcover in original mustard yellow cloth, but no d/w (very rare) with title simply stamped in black print on front board and spine, some minor shelf wear with some softening of the spine and hinges though overall in very good condition now protected in clear archival covering, text in very good condition on lightly tanned paper with all edges tanned with minor foxing and discolouration of ffep. A very nice copy of a first edition about one of the first fictional detectives in print. Although Simon Templar was first mentioned in the 1928 novel “Meet the Tiger”, Charteris claims his famous series actually starts with this edition that is actually three continuous novellas detailing how the Saint began his career. A very attractive volume for any collector of detective literature.
