4to, VIII, 302pp. Pictorial softcover with black laminated boards displaying a vase of flowers on front board and gold and white titles on front and spine as well in good/fair condition with a creased front board lower right corner but still with a firm spine and only minor corner scuffing elsewhere, text and all b/w and colour illustrations are in excellent unmarked condition. This study on Dutch flower painting is a preliminary result of research from both an art-historical and botanical point of view. A scholarly work that contains seventy-five superb reproductions of still lifes from a prolific stock of Dutch 17th century painting assembled with support of the Netherlands Office for Fine Arts.
