Description
4to, XXXIX, 200pp. Hardcover in grey/beige cloth with blue title and decoration “Fear God Honour The King” on the still firm spine and front board with no d/w and light brown discoloured edges though overall it is still in good condition with minor shelf wear only. Text and ilustrations remain in excellent condition with coloured frontis and fifteen beautiful tipped in plates all present undamaged. Interesting front and rear stylistic map endpapers are a little tanned with a small tear near spine in ffep but devoid of any prior owner additions or markings. Often proudly owned by Navy and other Servicemen in WWII, the book is the first volume of several presented as a picture of the work in “this war of the ships and men of the R.A.Navy.”. Interesting in so many ways it was of course published whilst the war was at its height so it had to be a little guarded in detail of course. Highly prized but certainly not rare or even uncommon in Australia.
