8vo, 48pp. Cream, cloth, gilt titled hardcover in very good condition with price-clipped tan illustrated d/w also in v.g. condition with minor top edge browning and slight chipping as well as scuffing to corners now protected by clear archival covering, text and all pen illustrations are clean and unmarked devoid of any prior owner markings with the book being certainly in an excellent state overall. Clarke’s original book ‘Pen Points of Old Sydney’ as it was named was printed in 1951 and this edition is essentially revised and enlarged with a name change, and so for many years, he has captured in ink and paint his impressions of many of the State’s historic buildings, several of which have now sadly been demolished prior to the 1947 National Trust formation . So this simple attractive and concise volume does make a valuable contribution to our vision of the colony’s early day.
