Small4to XVI, non-paginated Brown cloth hardcover with silver gilt title on the firm, flat spine and Karen Blixen photo on front board in very good condition with mild shelfwear and a non-price-clipped pink d/w illustrated with primitive animal sketches and portraits front and rear in excellent condition protected by clear archival covering, all text and b/w photography is in pristine condition unadorned by any notations or prior owner markings. A unique book compiled by Peter Beard and Karen Blixen’s long term employee and then chef, Kumante. Her admiration for this thoughtful man is spelt out in detail in her book Out Of Africa. This is a record of Old Africa as it is no longer and the book has a timeless quality about it that transcends its subjects, magnificently and respectfully photograped by Blixen and others many years ago.
