Description

8vo, XII 319pp. Hardcover in green cloth in good condition though with two small brown tape marks on the front board and slight browning of board edges and d/w in fair condition with one repaired small tear on front and a missing 2cm triangular piece on rear at the top edge with some internal old tape marks as well now protected by clear archival covering, text in good condition with school library Dewey numbers neatly in biro on ffep and rear board and a small school stamp on title page as well as tanning of both ep’s though no other internal marks are present despite its prior owner. This was the first volume on this ever popular subject which combined many (90) reproductions in colour ( and also 50 in b/w) and an authoritative, full -length text at a moderate price at the time. It informatively covers the whole range of both the prints and paintings of the masters of the art from the 1600’s to the 20th Century as an important text for both beginner and collector alike.
