8vo, XXXVI, 432pp. Hardcover in standard bottle green cloth boards with gilt titles on a firm spine with scuffing and wear on all corners and edges but is still in very good condition plus a part price-clipped d/w in only fair condition that is somewhat fragile with very worn edges and edge tears particularly to the front flap and old tape repair stains on both flaps (though not on the classic pictorial blue front cover) now fully protected by a clear archival covering, overall the text and all b/w illustrations are in very good condition with no foxing throughout however there are old tape repair stains on both coloured map endpapers and a small prior owner name in black felt pen neatly on the top of the dedication page (pge13). Of the ‘Swallows and Amazons’ series, Ransome became very inventive . Together with Captain Flint and the able-seaman Peter Duck, they set sail on the Wild Cat bound for the Channel, being shadowed by the evil Black Jake in a race to uncover buried treasure. A fabulous tale in a very readable copy.
