4to, VII, 256pp. Soft cover in light card boards with square glued spine and illustrated with two fine portraits from different periods in his life. The frontboard is a portrait of a lady in muted brown tones with a title in white print as well as on the sound spine, no d/w of course as issued, Internally, the text and all copious illustrations are in a pristine state with a detailed photographic index of all works included at the rear, with no added notations or marks from any prior owner and two unmarked large extension flaps at either end. Near-fine overall. Published to accompany the exhibition of the same name at the NPG London from 6th Oct. to 5th Feb. 2017 and then the Museu Picasso, Barcelona from 16th March to 25th June 2017. Picasso’s creative process as a portraitist is clearly the focus of this beautifully illustrated book.
