The author (1922 – 1992) was a Welsh miner’s son who having left school age 14 began to sing professionally during wartime service in the RAF. Ultimately becoming an international opera star, he was knighted whilst still performing and in this autobiography he recalls the personalities he has met, his own hopes and disappointments and his experiences in festivals and opera houses all around the world.
