large 4to, 131pp. Hardcover in original publisher’s blue buckram in very good condition , the spine and upper front board is lettered and ruled in gilt plus t.e.g. Has mild wear and tear with rubbing and slight fraying of extremeties and closed cracking of hinge between front endpapers though spine is still very sound. No d/w as issued. text is in an excellent state overall and all titled and described full page illustrations are present and intact being both clean and unmarked, devoid of any prior owner markings. This masterpiece of the gardening genre showcases thirty-six British gardens attached to great houses or castles, with 50 beautiful watercolours by Elgood reproduced perfectly in full colour on separate pages, with all text by the famous Gertrude Jekyll. Really a horticultural tour through Edwardian England in 1904 and now a genuine rarity in its original format, certainly very elusive in Australia.
