Description

8vo, XV, 294pp. Hardcover in original blue boards in very good condition with the front board and spine embossed in red, green and gold and with age appropriate wear to corners and upper and lower spine which is overall sound but with some repairable damage to both front and rear hinges, text is in very good condition with tanning to both endpapers and very light foxing throughout (other than on any of the perfectly intact and undamaged seventy-six colour illustrations and descriptive tissue guards) with a neat prior collector’s name from 1937 on the ffep and the rear foldout map is present, unmarked and intact. This is another of the famous A & C Black 20/- Colour Books printed between 1901 and 1921 apparently in competition to the Baedecker Guides of the time. One of 3000 copies, it describes the history and life of Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Sark and is comparatively rare in its original form. A beautiful reminder of travel in a bygone era.
