Description
4to, 56pp. Hardcover, with illustrated, mauve d/w in excellent condition now protected by clear archival covering, text is in very good condition with no prior owner’s markings. Arguably more attractive but certainly more functional even than the 1945 first edition, the artwork of O’Harris is exceptionally duplicated and beautifully coloured with additional paintings and drawings by Australian artists such as Neville Cayley and Lionel Lindsay in keeping with the ethos and objectives of the NLA to interpret and highlight the Library’s collections and to support the creative work of the nation’s writers and researchers. The last five pages annotate and detail the other artists involved as well as O’Harris. This uncommon edition retold by Bronwyn Davies, is an excellent and very beautiful, highly “usable” copy for a young person to treasure for years.
