8vo, 125pp. Hardcover in tan cloth boards with figure of Punchinello drawn in red on both front and rear boards in very good condition with slightly scuffed edges and small stains to front edge and flecking to top edge and original glassine d/w with a small tear and missing piece on front of the clear wrapper with a slightly creased inside flap still with the original Bodley Head London price tag present, text is in excellent condition with the beautiful Sendak endpapers totally unmarked as are his classic opulent illustrations throughout., with no prior owner markings either. This Sendak masterpiece is of stage and costume designs for the 1982 production of Prokofiev’s comic L’Amour des Trois Oranges as done originally in French and then directed by Corsaro with Tom Stoppard doing the English translation for the Glyndebourne Touring Opera in late 1983. Included inside is a copy of the original program sponsored by Barclays for performances at the Apollo Theatre in Oxford from 25th to 29th October 1983.
