Description
Roy8vo, XVIII, 335pp. Coloured pictorial cloth covered boards with title in grey over the upper aspect of the front cover painting and the tight spine in pristine condition with an unclipped d/w repeating the artwork also in an excellent state , now protected by clear archival covering , text is excellent, being near-new o/t a neat pen inscription on the half-title page, so book is essentially at least near-fine overall. This is a wonderfull true rendition of the life of a young soldier in 1790 evolving as an important pioneer of colonial Australia, somewhat ignored by historians over these last two hundred years. A ‘rags to riches’ story handled in riveting detail thereby helping our understanding of the dynamics of the colony during a transformational period.
