8vo, XXX 303pp. Hardcover in standard bottlegreen publisher cloth boards with gilt titling on a very firm spine and scuffing and minor wear on all corners in very good condition plus price-clipped d/w with browning and wear and abrasions on all corners and upper edge too, text and illustrations are in an excellent state as are the attractive coloured endpapers too devoid of all foxing, with a neat pencil written prior owner name on the upper dedication and half-title page,so the book is overall in a very good/excellent condition. Of the ‘Swallows and Amazons’ series, the story involves parents avoiding a dull and miserable holiday for the children, thereby marooning them on an island with only a blank map and a little sailing dinghy. Their task?. To explore and chart the area, avoiding the endless mud and survive. However, of course they discover evidence of other people. Mysterious savages that lurk on the island too and will they attack? Unreasonably tolerant and inventive parents are these, but a rollicking good yarn nevertheless.
