Description

8vo, 250pp. Cream and orange spine cloth hardcover in good condition though lightly soiled with bumped corners with a black title on spine, and a worn non price-clipped d/w with simple artwork on the front in fair-good condition though with chipping and worn corners and edges, now protected by clear archival covering, internal text is very clean, devoid of any extraneous markings with tanning of the top edge and a small stain on the fore-edge so the book is certainly in good condition overall. This is the debut full-length novel by Niland first published in Australia in 1955. It was adapted into a movie in 1957 and a mini-series in 1987. It is a wonderful story of an itinerant rural worker and a young daughter, originally strangers to each other, drifting aimlessly through dusty towns of Australia, sleeping rough and relying on odd jobs for food and money.
