As described on front cover, this work is an” English Rendering of the Journals of DUMONT D’URVILLE and his Officers of their Visit to New Zealand in 1840, together with Some Account of Bishop Pompalier, and Charles, Baron de Thierry.” The expedition of D’Urville’s first voyage to N.Z. in 1826-27 has long been recognized as an expedition of outstanding historical importance- accentuated by the publication of the author’s book on the subject. Hence her rendition of this 1840’s expedition is recognized to be of equal importance and value for maritime historians.
