8vo, XXIX, 360pp. Hardcover in grey-green cloth boards and gilt titles on a very firm spine with light scuffing to all edges and corners plus a partially price-clipped d/w on orange background in fair condition with small 1cm tears to top and bottom of spine with staining, wear and scuffing to all corners and edges with verso affected by old tape repairs and now protected by clear archival covering, text and all illustrations are in very good or better condition therby rendering the book to be in good/very good condition overall. The story is a tale of two parties of children spending a winter holiday on farms near a great lake under the cover of large mountains. Long weeks of ice and snow lead to an igloo being built and an imaginary North Pole expedition. “one could hardly have a better book about children” writes the Times in London.
