8vo, 298pp. Very attractive hardcover in bottle green gilt leatherette in pristine condition with no shelf wear at all and no d/w as issued, text is in fine condition devoid of foxing or flecking and pages are still white with no signs of ageing so the book is overall very fine Interestingly this edition is a reprint of Emily Bronte’s original text as it appeared in her first edition because in 1850, two years after her death, a second edition was issued under the supervision of sister Charlotte who made several hundred changes to her sister’s book that taken cumulatively represent a departure from the author’s work. The book includes two introductory essays which Charlotte wrote for her 1850 edition that offer intimate insights into Emily’s life and perceptive observations on the style and characterization of Wuthering Heights. This inexpensive and beautiful copy is perfect to hold, read and appreciate the best of Bronte.
