Book Acquisition & Collection Policy
Love Vintage Books is a retail specialist. Our primary activity is the sale of rare and out-of-print books; we are not a general second-hand book buyer.
We maintain a very narrow and specific curatorial focus. We do not purchase "general" books, and we do not accept unsolicited walk-in offers or donations at our Willoughby shop.
Strict Selection Criteria
We rarely add to our inventory from private sources. We only consider items that are of significant antiquarian interest or fit within our highly specialised niches (Australiana, Military, Transport, and Rare Children’s Literature).
We do not buy or accept:
- Modern fiction or paperbacks.
- Encyclopaedias, dictionaries, or reference sets.
- Reader's Digest, magazines, or coffee table books.
- Any books in poor condition (torn jackets, browning, or odours).
Formal Enquiry Process
If you believe you have a rare collection that meets our specialist criteria, you may submit a formal enquiry. Please adhere to the following protocol:
- No In-Person Assessments: Please do not bring books to the shop. Our staff are focused on retail operations and are not authorised to assess or accept books over the counter.
- Email Submission Only: Send a brief overview to: sales@lovevintagebooks.com.au.
- Photographic Proof: You must include clear photos of the book spines. We will not consider any enquiry without visual confirmation of condition and edition.
Communication Policy
Please note that we only respond to enquiries that precisely match our current acquisition requirements. If you have not received a reply within seven days, please assume we are unable to assist you and pursue other avenues for your books.
