Where to Donate Books in Sydney

Finding a Home for Your Book Donations

Love Vintage Books is a retail shop, not a general second-hand book buyer. Our primary focus is the curation and sale of rare and out-of-print volumes. While we do occasionally purchase private collections, this is a rare occurrence and is limited strictly to items that enhance our very specific archive.

If your books do not meet our specific antiquarian criteria, we highly recommend donating them to organisations that can use "general" second-hand books to raise much-needed funds for the community.

Below are the most reliable donation centres in the Sydney and North Shore area:

Our Best Recommendation: Lifeline's Book Depot

Lifeline holds massive book fairs and is usually very grateful for quality "reading copies."

The Footpath Library

For books in excellent condition that are suitable for their "homeless library" program.

  • Website: footpathlibrary.org
  • Location: Redfern. (They generally prefer current fiction and recent bestsellers).

Your Local Charity Shops

However, please note they only accept small quantities and you must check with them beforehand.

Important Note: Please do not leave book donations outside our shop or at charity bins after hours. If a book is too damaged for a charity shop, please dispose of it responsibly through your local Council's blue-lidded recycling bin.
