Everyone knows Lewis Carroll's 'Alice In Wonderland' and most know that the story was told to a real little girl, Alice Liddell, on a boating trip from Oxford with Charles Dodgson ('who had a penchant for little girls and a singular fancy for Alice') manning the oars.
