Christmas Day Dinner Menu from the Oriana
Menu of a Christmas dinner probably from the ship's maiden voyage to Australia in December 1960. Details of the ship are included on the rear of the menu such as crew size and ship dimensions and interior designer details with the launching ceremony being on 3rd November 1959 (Princess Alexandra of Kent), but the real joy comes from the menu contents such as one red and one white wine (Hardy's St Thomas Burgundy (shiraz) and the famous Lindeman's Moselle Ben Ean at $2.40 per bottle)with a lovely traditional hot menu of Roast Turkey, Pork and Beef ribs with wonderful sweets and cheese inclusions but biscuits are spelt out in detail such as Vita-Weat, Ryvita and Jatz! A unique piece of shipping memorabilia, no doubt invaluable to anyone lucky enough to have been on this famous ship at Christmas.
