Fragments of a Lost Heritage

Fatnowna, Noel
1989. Angus and Robertson Publishers , Sydney, Australia.

This is a powerful and moving account of a Kanaka family, often strangely humorous but always thought provoking, often about the author's childhood in Mackay Queensland. It is also the story of his grandfather's kidnapping and forced transportation to Mackay from the Solomon Islands to become one of the Kanaka laborers in the canefields (and then their survival in the face of this shameful episode in Australia's dark past.)
