From the Quay
The best photography of early Sydney Harbour and the Quay was for many years thought to be destroyed but the thousands of glass photographic plates tracking Sydney's history from 1800 to the 1900's were eventually discovered by Harvey Shore in 1980 in a locked room at the N.S.W Maritime Services Board. Following extensive cleaning and sorting they then had their first public exhibition in fifty years. The best of this unique historical collection, in print for the first time, forms the backbone of this superb book.
