This would be one of the favourite of all the A & C Black 20/- Colour Books and is still a lovely copy about a bygone era although it is not a true first edition. Helen Allingham, the artist (1848 - 1926) became the first woman to be admitted as a full member of the Royal Watercolour Society.

Condition Report

Cover Hardcover with no dust wrapper in crimson cloth boards decorated with pink and light green flowers and gilt titles original front board and light affected spine in overall good condition other than repairable cracking to both front and rear hinges with t.e.g. and flecking to other edges.
Overall Text in very good condition with 81 magnificent paintings and descriptive tissue guards all present and undamaged with a 1914 inscription to a heavily tanned front free end paper and a prior collector's neat name below.
