It's A Dog's Life Charlie Brown

Schulz, Charles M
1962 (First Edition). Holt, Rinehart and Winston, Inc , New York, United States

This is the eleventh book of the world famous series and as a first edition paperback, it is over fifty years old. Schulz's earliest presentations of the characters have now evolved even further from the second collection of 1954 and are nearly unrecognisable from the original book in 1952. More importantly though, Schulz is now constantly exploring the complex and almost taboo subjects of loneliness, depression and modern psychiatry (remember, it is the '60's). For as Charlie Brown longs for the attention of the "little red haired girl" it now behoves Lucy to become his albeit insensitive, psychiatrist. Linus, Pig Pen, Schroeder and of course the schizophrenic Snoopy have now joined the cast. Schulz's comic strips are no longer cute vignettes of childhood but have now become quite extraordinary commentaries on the vicissitudes of life at all levels. Extremely rare in Australia.
