The kris or keris is a distinctive assymetrical dagger from Indonesia which is both a weapon and a spiritual object, often said to possess magical powers. The earliest known kris have been traced to the tenth century probably originating from Java. It has a distinctive blade-patterning achieved through alternating laminations of iron and nickel iron. This is a simple but valuable thin book on a little known subject in the West, written in both English (translated by Judi Achjadi) and of course Indonesian.
