Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel
1967.
Houghton Mifflin Company
, New York, United States
With simple but charming colour illustrations on every page, the book has a freshness and originality not usually seen in illustrated children's' books. It is the story of a faithful Irish steam-shovel 'artist' and his steam shovel named 'Mary Anne', that is undergoing challenges from both gas and diesel motorised newer models. Originally written and drawn in 1939, this version is elegant and a delight for all young children.

They are clean with a strong flat spine but there is bumping of all corners as to be expected in a children's book that is well over fifty years old. The laminated wrapper is in bright apple red with grey titles and bears an illustration of the subject on the front, the rear cover is likewise apple green with a small central drawing. It is not price-clipped either and has negligible chipping or tears . It is now also protected in a removable clear archival covering. - With Dust Wrapper |
| Overall | Excellent Condition - Note: Importantly in any children's book, there is no scribbling or notations anywhere in the text that is clear and uncluttered with no foxing and with no damage to the attractive illustrated endpapers. |
