Navies of the Second World War- British Submarines
1972 (First Edition).

, London, England
At the outbreak of WWII the British submarine flotilla had shrunk to only fifty-seven boats with twelve more under construction ie. a woefully small and barely adequate naval force, principally employed in enemy coastal and adjoining waters in adverse conditions hunting for whatever targets they could find. With the usual attention to detail seen in this series, technical data was found from official sources and includes detail of midget submarines with wide usage of general arrangement drawings given that submarines make poor photographic subjects (though numerous black and white photos are included nevertheless).
