Pilot Recipe Book

Marrickville Margarine Test Kitchen Cooks (Editors)
1937. Marrickville Margarine Pty Ltd , Sydney, Australia

Frankly, this is a very scarce book, named after a particular famous Pilot Margarine brand in the 1930's and was available totally free of charge to any pastry cook buying either from the company or from an interstate representative. The recipes were collected from 1930 onwards and include wonderful favorites together with knowledgeable advice such as 'Common Causes of Faulty Cakes'. A true piece of Australiana that is still very useful.

Condition Report

Cover Good Condition - Note: Boards are covered with coarse olive green cloth that is scuffed and worn on all corners and edges of a still very sound spine with no margin cracking. The title is in black print on front board only. - No Dust Wrapper
Overall Very Good Condition - Note: With early yellowing of the paper stock, there is also minor edge flecking and light foxing plus a trivial liquid stain to the bottom of the rear pastedown, though overall the book is in quite superb shape for a ninety year old well loved cookbook. Devoid of prior owner notations too.
