Stephen Ward Was Innocent, OK- The Case For Overturning His Conviction
Likely the only true rendition of this remarkable phase of British politics that brought down MacMillan's government two years later written by arguably one of the most famous legal minds in Britain in the last century.. Many felt that Ward's trial was grossly unjust with the charges being on two counts on the earnings of a prostitute. Dying from a suicide attempt prior to the conviction being announced , no appeal was ever raised and this book shows that it breached basic standards of justice and the author says it "was the worst unrequited miscarriage of justice in modern British history and it is now time it was overturned". Robertson may well have had some difficulty finding a recognised publisher for this most interesting and contentious book.
