The Best of Dorothy Parker
1997 (Third printing ).
The Folio Society
, London, England
This is really "a collection of Dorothy Parker's poems, stories and sketches.... plus the era-defining graphic illustrations [8 plates]of Helen Smithson. Apparently " Parker was a famed wit, writer and member of the Algonquin Round Table, the group of New York critics in the heyday of the 1920's". She was well known for her caustic wisecracks and eye for 20th century urban foibles. A wonderful compilation for the keen reader.
