Pearl Buck won the Pulitzer Prize and was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature too. Famous for her book 'The Good Earth', she was the daughter of American missionaries, spending her early childhood in China, hence she wrote extensively on China. This novel has an intricate plot related to three daughters of a successful Chinese restauranter who managed to get them to America for their education in spite of Chairman Mao's Red Guards and Communist austerity. Condition Report

Cover Very Good Condition - Note: The boards, covered in dark olive cloth have the title in gold on the firm sound spine only and there is however light exposure discolouring on top and bottom of each board and spine. The price-clipped Dust Wrapper is a highlight certainly with the subject illustrated over a light green background on the front and spine with several of her previous novels listed on the rear. Devoid of any fraying, chipping or bumping, the wrapper is now protected by removable clear arcival covering. - With Dust Wrapper
Overall Very Good Condition - Note: Internally the pages, though slightly toned, are still crisp and unmarked, devoid of foxing or edge flecking. The only significant detractor from the book is the previous aggressive use of Sellotape on the front and rear free endpapers and pastedowns with small patches of ugly brown stains now remaining.
