What happened To The Corbetts

Shute, Nevil
1939 (First Edition, first impression). Heinemann , London, England

Published as a precursor to 1939 WWII, the story is about a family in Southampton being bombed and how they escape and move forward to a new life with several adventures in between with a somewhat gratuitous final stage in the book, though nevertheless it is beautifully written. Strangely this novel by Shute remains very scarce, being previously for sale in England for 175 pound (price in pencil on ffep). Possibly relates to several older readers in England.
