Wreck of the Sydney Cove
1997 (First Edition).
New Holland
, Sydney, Australia
This is the epic story of the shipwrecked crew and the heroic journey from Preservation Island (below Flinders Island in Tasmania) by land to Port Jackson in 1797. The story is accurately based on a diary kept by one of the three survivors out of the seventeen that started the 400 mile trek, leaving the remainder of the crew still on the island several of whom were eventually rescued many months later. The Launceston museum has an excellent display of this fascinating story with surviving relics.
