Animals Of East Africa
In 1953, Clive Spinage went to Kenya from England to join the local police force but when there he fell in love with the wildlife and instead became a fulltime naturalist and photographer. This is one of the earlier style wildlife photography books and was a classic at the time with remarkable black and white wildlife photoraphy and composition that certainly impressed everyone to the extent that the excellent text details tended to be overlooked. Perhaps sadly the details of his camera, lenses and even film are not described in the book but the pictures enclosed have certainly stood the test of time, As a curiosity there remains a small original booksellers label adhered to the front inside pastedown from the original purchase in Nairobi Kenya

Condition Report
| Cover | Excellent Condition - Note: Covered with bottle green cloth and with a gold title on the still firm spine, appropriate minor bumping on corners and spine ends are the only detractions with a good original non price-clipped pictorial dust wrapper that exhibits chipping on all edges with a 1cm tear at upper spine on the rear cover . Removable clear archival covering now protects the wrapper too - With Dust Wrapper |
| Overall | Very Good Condition - Note: The photos and text remain in near-fine condition with no internal damage or spotting in this book that is now over sixty years old. There is a prior owner name obscured on the front pastedown too and unfortunately the front free endpaper has been neatly removed ( at the time probably due to privacy concerns regarding an inscription.) Still, highly collectable by photography buffs in particular. |
