Primitive Art Of New Guinea - Sepik River Basin

Maksic, Sava and Meskil, Paul
1973 (first edition). Davis Publications , Inc , Massachusetts

The primitive art of New Guinea, as represented by the superb photograph examples included from the Sepik River Basin, is a fascinating reflection of the life-style of an existing primitive society, living along an ancient waterway. Deeply respectful of the Sepik River people who played a large part in relating the stories included in the book, the authors originally donated part of the proceeds of the book sales to a health -and education fund for Sepik villagers. Each artwork is carefully described in some detail throughout. An important addition to anthropology studies of primitive peoples.
