Stevenson, Robert Louis
1974. J.M.Dent and Sons Ltd for the Folio Press , London, England

Stevenson's famous 'shocker' book is a remarkable novel, ''for the originality of the idea is matched by the skill with which tension is added to mystery almost to the end.'' Written originally in 1885 it has been now reprinted, translated, filmed and dramatised again and again yet it still entrances all readers and this copy has the famous English illustrator Mervyn Peake involved.

Condition Report

Cover Very Good Condition - Boards are in black cloth with title on the spine in gilt as well as a gilt modern illustration of a creature with two halves in gold and black on both front and rear boards. The back board has a very tiny area of old insect damage on the bottom edge that is really the only detractor of an otherwise excellent book. It is not accompanied by the standard Folio slip case either but it has sharp non bumped or frayed corners and edges and hence remains a very handsome edition.- No Dust Wrapper as issued
Overall Very Good Condition - Internally excellent devoid of foxing or any page damage. The spine is square and firm with a very small and neat prior owner name and date in pen on top right hand corner of the free front endpaper as the only notation in the book.
