Condition Report

Cover Hardcover in turquoise green cloth with gold title original spine only with very minor corner and spine edge bruising, the price-clipped portrait dust wrapper with a small bookshop sticker original front paste-down is also in excellent condition now protected in clear covering.
Overall With rust brown complex map endpapers, the portrait on dust wrapper and frontis is of Maximillian de Bethune, duc de Sully from a painting by Ambroise Dubois and the internal text is absolutely spotless and fine, devoid of foxing and any prior owner notations.Sully was not only a financier but but he was a leader in the formulation of foreign policy and is credited with carrying through the most far-reaching reforms of the French monetary and taxation systems.
