Published in 1988 for the The Great Writers Library series, this 1749 story is now more commonly known as' Tom Jones' and it is simply a comic novel by by the English playwright and novelist Henry Fielding. It is among the earliest English works to ever be classified as a 'novel'. Despite its considerable length it is well organised and it rapidly became a best-seller producing no less than four editions in its first year alone to now be regarded as a highly influential English literary work. This copy is very readable and transportable though it does have a smaller font size than normal

| Cover | Very Good Condition - The boards are bound in dark blue satin finish paper with a gilt title on the front board and very sound spine that is also gilt decorated with a coloured illustration of a scene from the book on the front. The only minor detractors of the book overall are the bumping to the bottom corners and very trivial superficial early cracking to the join of the boards to the spine both front and rear . - No Dust Wrapper as issued |
| Overall | Excellent Condition - internally the book is tight and clean with no foxing to the high quality light weight paper stock and is almost near-fine with attractive endpapers devoid of any notations. |
