The Picture of Dorian Gray - Reprint

Wilde, Oscar
1994. Wordsworth Classics , Hartfordshire, England

This is a very famous Gothic melodrama and was Wilde's only novel ever. The preface is apparently very celebrated, containing some famous passages such as "Books are well written or badly written. That is all" as well as "All art is quite useless". The book attracted both controversy and praise at the time of publication in 1891. Though basically no one seeking an understanding of Wilde and his ideas can afford to ignore this book ''touching as it does on so many of the themes of this great writer, such as the nature and spirit of art itself, aestheticism , and the dangers inherent in it''. This is a lovely copy of a timeless classic.
