As described on front cover, this work is an" English Rendering of the Journals of DUMONT D'URVILLE and his Officers of their Visit to New Zealand in 1840, together with Some Account of Bishop Pompallier, and Charles, Baron de Thierry." The expedition of D'Urville's first voyage to N.Z. in 1826-27 has long been recognized as an expedition of outstanding historical importance- accentuated by the publication of the author's book on the subject. Hence her rendition of this 1840's expedition is recognized to be of equal importance and value for maritime historians.

Cover Hardcover in blue cloth with gilt title original a firm spine and slight rubbing of spine and lower frontboard edges in excellent condition and with a cream coloured non price-clipped dust wrapper with chipped corners and edges in a clear protective cover.
Overall Text and photo plates in excellent condition enabling this volume to be described as "very good"overall with light tanning throughout and a very neat prior owner signature on front free end paper.
