The Year Of the Tigers - The Second Tour Of The 5th Battalion, R.A.R in South Vietnam 1969-70
Excellent photos are included throughout and there is a location map of Phuoc Tuy Province and surrounds to the East of Saigon inset in blue on each folding operation map at the rear following the main map of South Vietnam showing the 5 RAR operation area with legend. Chapters include an overview of the Battalion's history, a description of a historically independent Vietnam, 16 major operation details, the Vietcong and his supports, personalities and how the 'war was really won', the nominal and roll of Honour with decorations and awards/citations. An impossibly wonderful pictorial and descriptive record of a famous Army Battalion sent to a famous war north of Australia.

Condition Report
| Cover | Hardcover in gilt decorated brown textured boards with a still sound titled square spine with slightly bruised corners and top edge flecking with no dust wrapper however, but the covers are in excellent condition still. |
| Overall | Internally there are yellow endpapers with newspaper cutout decoration and a single neat Officer Cadet school library stamp in corner of title page though the book has always been respectably handled with a still firm stitched binding with no absent (or even damaged) pages devoid of foxing on high quality semi-gloss paper that has largely resisted any significant soiling throughout. there is only a small area of margin weakness at pge 206-207 and none of the black and white original colour photos have been defaced original removed . the 16pp of folding operation maps at rear are in excellent condition though a little protruding from the fore-edge. overall the book is clearly in very good original excellent condition particularly for an obviously well loved volume in an Army cadet library. |
